SCHAF marked its End-of-the-Year & 11th anniversary on December 13, 2023, at the Apex Event Center in Agodi, Ibadan, with prominent dignitaries in attendance. The Gifting Day aimed to bring joy and empowerment to individuals battling sickle cell diseases and their caregivers.
The event featured activities like goodwill messages, live testimonies, motivational speeches, and the presentation of the Newsletter – Maiden Edition. Attendees engaged in quizzes and trivia about the foundation and sickle cell diseases, with many receiving gifts Activities included distributing routine meds, essential medicines, and festive palliatives to over 300 children and adult warriors and their caregivers.
Empowering adult Warriors with grinding machines and funding support for shoe making added to the success of SCHAF's final outing for 2023 in a comfortable environment donated by a generous supporter. Awards of Recognition were given to various resource persons, including Pharmaceutical Representatives, Media, and Collaborators from different sectors.
The Global Masters Institute, in collaboration with Skill Development Council Canada, presented an award to the founder and named a scholarship scheme after her.
Expanding its presence, SCHAF partnered with the Oyo state NYSC to establish Know Your Genotype (KYG) clubs in five major zones. Professor Falusi expressed gratitude for support from pharmaceutical companies, donations, volunteers, and the recent collaboration with NYSC, emphasizing the need for more government support, especially in insurance.
Hon. Justice Tayo Osoba chaired the event, where SCHAF celebrated its 11th year, committed to providing hope, assistance, and empowerment to those battling sickle cell disease.
